Dedicated to school championship swimming in Bristol for over 70 years.

BSSA is an association providing swimming competitions for primary and secondary schools in Bristol.

We are a friendly organisation that runs yearly competitions for the best swimmers at schools in Bristol (and in the surrounding area at secondary age). We are proud to have been running competitions for over 70 years. The events focus on sprint individual events and relays.

We have worked hard over the last few years to increase participation while keeping standards high and had 40 primary and almost 30 secondary schools compete last year, bringing with them over 900 swimmers. It was exciting last year to see long-held records being broken, though there are still some standing from the mid-nineties!

Our association is run by a very small group of dedicated volunteers. We are always looking for ways to improve our galas so please do get in touch if you have some suggestions or would like to help out.

In summary, we believe our championships are a great opportunity for swimmers to represent their schools and to inspire others on their swimming journey. We are passionate about our role in helping to improve school swimming in Bristol.
