Awards
Each swimmer will receive a certificate of participation and there are medals for the top three finishes in individual and relay events. Any swimmers who take part in a heat but not the final will still be eligible to win a medal (should their school finish in the top three in the final). Top six placings receive points and relays attract double points. There is an aggregate points total trophy for the overall winners for girls, boys and small schools. There are also individual trophies for each of the relays. Schools / swimmers are asked to stay on poolside at the end of the event for the presentations.
What happens at the finals?
The fastest eight swimmers / teams from each event across the heats will go forward to the final. There will also be two reserves for each event who may be able to swim in the final if anyone is unable to swim.
Points will be allocated as follows: the winning team is awarded 8 points, the second team getting 7 points and so on for individual events. This is doubled for relays, so the winning relay team gets 16 points, the second team getting 14 points and so on. Aggregate points are calculated by adding all the scores from each event for each school (still split into male & female competitions).
Each finalist is able to collect their certificate with their times on and the top three in each event will be awarded medals. Winners of individual events also win the coveted gold swimming hat. Winning teams from the relays and the aggregate points competitions get a trophy.
